There are more than 70 of us now, I think. We Edibles exist to celebrate the people who transform the places we live into strong communities, bound together by a mutual love of eating, drinking and, above all else, making merry. Just before the meeting, I have the pleasure of determining the winners of our Local Heroes awards. Our Local Heroes are nominated and voted on exclusively by you, our readers; you may remember voting a few months ago. Winners of the Local Heroes awards receive national recognition at the Edible Communities publishers meeting, a gilded certifi cate and, of course, the gratitude and admiration of everyone in Queens who appreciates local, seasonal food and drink.
