cooking fresh A Winters’Cauldron By Laura Anhalt Over the years, I have developed a fascination for ancient cultures and their Earth-oriented spiritual ways of life, more precisely; to the customs of the cultures that predate Christian times. I find the narratives about their olden traditions, legends and folktales quite alluring; but what captivates me the most as a food writer and someone with a love for exotic and ancient food, is that the more I learn about these primitive residents of the planet, the more I come to realize it was they who stood at the gateway of culinary wisdom. 18 EDIBLE BUFFALO | WINTER 2010
