Edible San Francisco Winter 2011 No. 23 : Page 5

edible AMUSE falafel is eff-in’ awesome. Another treat is the cinna-mon toast at Trouble Coffee Company (4033 Judah St. at 46th Ave.). It’s like going to another planet out there. I really love going in there and grabbing a coffee with some toast, and then going for a walk on the beach to clear my head. John Owyang, executive chef-owner of The Richmond I have been running The Richmond for the past six years, and I also live in the Sunset. We cook American food at the restaurant, but my wife is Asian, so we like to go to places like Lime Tree (450A Irving St. at Fifth Ave.); it’s Indonesian and affordable. We order their beef rendang. We also go to Chabaa Thai (2123 Irving St. at 22nd Ave.) for Thai—we like the beef pad kee mao; it’s like a version of chow fun. We go to Gaspare’s (5546 Geary Blvd. at 19th Ave.) where they make a special pizza for us: double sausage and mushroom. And we like Chapeau! (126 Clement St. at Second Ave.) when we want to step it up. Michael Morrison, executive chef of The Moss Room I work and also live in the Sunset, out near 27th Avenue and Moraga. One of my favorites is PPQ (Pho Phu Quoc PPQ Beef Noodle House Res-taurant, 1816 Irving St. at 19th Ave.)—I get the lem-ongrass pho, with pork, blood and tendon. I also like to swing by Tea Way (2150 Irving St. at 22nd Ave.) since it’s open late at night for bubble tea. I make it past the bunch of high schoolers you’ll see in there and get the different tapioca teas, like one with mango. There’s an awesome ramen place in the neighborhood that’s been going for about six months, Saiwaii Ramen (2240 Irving St. at 23rd Ave.). I get the spicy garlic or miso ramen with pork. (But I don’t recommend the sushi there.) I like to go every Monday on my day off for lunch with my 3-year-old. —Marcia Gagliardi I Grew These For You meet the farmers who grow your food stonestown Farmers MArket Sundays, 9 am -1 pm, Year Round Stonestown Galleria, North West Parking Lot We Accept CalFresh Benefits (Food Stamps) AGRICULTURALINSTITUTE.ORG A 501( C )(3) NON-PROFIT EDIBLESANFRANCISCO.COM | 5
