IGNITE PHOENIX FOOD Ignite Phoenix brings its fast-paced format to food for the first time on Wednesday, March 19, at 6:30pm at Stand Up Live in Cityscape, Downtown Phoenix. At press time they’d received 32 entries for the 16 much-coveted five-minute spots. Possible topics include food nerds; making your own bacon; living with food allergies or other special diets; fried rice; lots of meat (we did mention bacon, didn’t we?); ice cream; ghost peppers; salt; agrarian ethics; and love, lust and food. For more information on the final lineup and to score a ticket (they’ll go quickly), see Ignitephoenix.com/food. SPRING FARM DINNERS Farm to table, farm to fork, farmer in the house or whatever terminology you may want to use, spring is the time when many of the Valley’s farmers pair up with their favorite restaurant customers to showcase their creations. Throw in a local winemaker and you have a local celebration. Join grower Carl Seacat, winemaker Sam Pillsbury and Chef Michael Cairns for a special Leap Day winemaker dinner at Prado Restaurant at the Montelucia resort on February 29. For reservations and more information, call 480-627-3304 or see pradolife.com. We hope we don’t have to wait another four years for the next one! Producer Pat Duncan of Duncan’s Trading Company once again partners with his favorite dining destinations for special dinners in April and May to raise funds for charity. Lon’s, Zuzu Café, Binkley’s, El Charro and Vincent Guerithault on Camelback are just a few of the hosting locations. Look for unusual heirloom veggies and Pat’s presence at every dinner. For more information, contact the restaurants or visit Edible Phoenix’s events calendar. Schnepf Farms continues its dinner down the orchard tradition with dinners in March and April.
