NIA Welcomes Aimee Doyle as Assistant Manager of Membership Services As of June 11, 2014, Aimee Doyle has joined NIA as the new Assistant Manager of Membership Services. Her primary responsibilities include managing the annual Membership Directory & Resource Guide, the Products & Services catalog, and product orders; supporting NIA’s Annual Convention, Committee Days meetings, and training classes; and assisting members with registration and NIA inquiries. She also will be the staff liaison to the Membership and Merit Contractors committees. Mrs. Doyle graduated from George Mason University in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Aspen Aerogels Looks to Go Public Aspen Aerogels recently filed plans to become a publicly traded company. According to a regulatory filing, the company plans to raise a total of $86.3 million through the initial public offering (IPO). Thus far, the company has raised more than $55 million. No information has been released about the price of shares. Barclays Capital Inc., J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, and Citigroup Global Markets Inc. are acting as joint book-running managers of the proposed offering. Aspen Aerogels, located in Northborough, Massachusetts, has been a member of NIA since 2005. Roxul Announces New Corporate Office Roxul Inc. (Roxul) recently announced its plans to build a new North American headquarters in Ontario, Canada. The new 25,000-square-foot head office will house approximately 100 employees from Roxul and its sister companies. The building is a design/build project by Stahle Construction, will be among the lowest energy use buildings in Canada, and will meet LEED Gold Standards. Roxul’s Energy Design Centre has been involved in the building envelope design, which will be built to approximately 35% over typical energy model codes, resulting in significant energy savings. The new building will go beyond just exceeding building code and will also include environmental design details such as motion-sensor lights, HVAC systems, drought-resistant landscaping, rain-water harvesting, and gray-water reuse. Construction of the facility is expected to begin in spring 2014 with occupancy scheduled for December 2014. Roxul, Inc., headquartered in Ontario, Canada has been a member of NIA since 1989. Knauf Insulation to Acquire Guardian Insulation Knauf Insulation and Guardian Industries Corp. recently announced that a definitive acquisition agreement has been signed for Knauf Insulation to acquire Guardian Insulation. The transaction includes Guardian Fiberglass, a leading supplier of insulation products for the construction market, and Guardian Laminated Building Products. Mark Andrews, CEO of Knauf Insulation in North America, said, “We are delighted to acquire such a high-quality business that fits perfectly with our growth strategy and we look forward to welcoming the Guardian Insulation team into the Knauf Insulation family.” Knauf Insulation, headquartered in Shelbyville, Indiana, has been a member of NIA since 1978.
